Job opportunity: Policy Manager

What does JBCE offer?

A full-time permanent contract for the position of Policy Manager within its Brussels-based secretariat in a stimulating and international work environment. The salary offered will depend on the number of years of relevant experience. We also offer a complete benefits package including meal vouchers, 13th month (additional salary payment in December), hospital insurance etc.

Please note that JBCE is an AISBL established under Belgian law, and that employment is within the Belgian tax and social security system.

 

What will you do?

The main task of the Policy Manager would be to support horizontally the activities of JBCE and help ensure the business continuity of the association.

1.Act as Policy Manager in charge of the activities of (a) specific committee(s), including by: a) Managing the smooth running of the activities of (a) committee(s) and JBCE’s dedicated lobbying and engagement activities towards key EU stakeholders in the specific policy fields by:

• Preparing the committee meetings and engaging actively with JBCE committee Chairs and other corporate members.

• Working on Committee’s position papers and other external communication tools.

• Coordinating JBCE’s participation in EU Commission consultations.

• Further developing and targeting internal reports, events, seminars and webinars to reflect EU “hot topics”.

b) Engaging externally with EU institutions on key policy dossiers and drive successful advocacy work in co-decision and comitology processes with the support of the Senior Policy Manager.

c) Engaging internally with corporate members by providing relevant and useful information regarding EU policy and advice on lobbying.

2. Take the lead on the association’s internal (extranet, CRM) and external (website updates and social networks management) communication tools and events organisation (team buildings, annual parties, conferences etc.) in close cooperation with the Administrative Assistant and Senior Policy Manager.

3. Other tasks would include:

• Proofreading of documents for external use

• Taking responsibility for the preparation of the association’s Annual Report with the collaboration of other Policy Managers

• Managing External resources on IT related / Cybersecurity issues

 

What profile should you have?

Required:

• Advanced university degree in international relations, politics, law, economics, management or equivalent

• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience

• Knowledge of EU law and deep understanding of the EU decision-making process

• Previous experience in public affairs, communication and/or events organisation

• Excellent computer and social media literacy & keen interest in developing and implementing social media strategies

• Excellent drafting and verbal English communication skills, ideally native-level

• Flexibility, adaptability and an open-minded outlook

 

Additional value:

• Previous experience of having worked with or within a Japanese corporate environment would be highly valued

• Experience of having worked with or within a trade association

• Previous experience of having worked within an EU Institution would be a plus

• Other languages such as Japanese or French
