JBCE co-signs a Joint Statement by industry associations in support of a fast-track adoption of the extended transition periods for CSRD and CS3D

29/03/2025

On 28 March 2025, the Japanese Business Council in Europe (JBCE), together with 17 other industry associations, co-signed a statement calling for the fast-track adoption of extended transition periods for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D).

The statement urges the European Parliament and the Council to swiftly adopt the proposed postponement of implementation timelines, as outlined in the "Stop-the-Clock" proposal within the Commission's Omnibus package. This measure is essential to provide legal certainty for businesses, particularly as some Member States already have transposed the CSRD, leading to potential legal inconsistencies and challenges for companies.

By securing extended transition periods, the Omnibus package would ensure sufficient time for companies to adapt to new regulations, implement necessary changes, and develop robust compliance systems. This approach not only safeguards business competitiveness but also supports sustainable business practices and economic resilience.
